"According to James Duke, a well known and renownded herbalist, aloe vera
SHOULD NOT be taken during pregnancy and lactation. He does not say
why, except to say that the aloe plane contains anthtraquinones, which
are powerful laxatives. This mother should be informed also that the
anthraquinone family is very addictive."
My understanding is that if the aloe vera is purified, then there are not enough anthtraquinones remaining to be of concern while breastfeeding.
