Hello, Kathy.
A couple of years ago, I was contacted by a mother who had a black
discharge from her nipples while she was pregnant. I wasn't sure what it could
be and referred her to her doctor. She called back and reported that her doc
said it was just her breasts clearing out old dead blood cells, lymph and maybe
even old milk from a previous nursing experience. He told her it would stop
in a couple of days, and it did. She went on to breastfeed just fine.
