Re Jeanette's mom:

I hesitate to respond, given that there is nothing at all evidence based
about what I have to suggest. However, having personally suffered several
spinal injury/adjustment periods, I wonder if this mom's pain might be more
related to holding the baby in one position for the length of time it takes
to complete a nursing. What supports the hypothesis is the fact that the
mom doesn't experience the residual pain after a pumping session, and that
you've ruled out all the medical conditions that could result in this
outcome.

Could someone try to hold the baby for her during a nursing session so that
she only has to sit there? Perhaps even suggesting that she try to minimize
looking downward as much as possible? If this helps, then perhaps a change
in positioning, from sitting to side lying might make the inbetween nursing
pain go away.

Warmly,
