Goats Milk-
This is all very interesting about Goat's milk and it's use in infants. I had
done some web searching recently and when I typed Goat's Milk Formula" into
Google, it sent me to Dr Sears' website, where there is a very detailed
write-up about the various reasons why Goat's Milk is considered closer to Human
Milk, and a better option- including smaller curds, more fat, more lactose. This
provided a link to Myenberg's website which offers exact recipes for making up
formula from Goat's milk- apparently it is necessary to add rice syrup and
dilute it in certain proportions.
But now this is all very confusing what is being said on Lactnet- I also have
worked with moms who supplemented with Goat's milk formulas and they found
them wonderful, keeping their children on it for the required year without
adverse effects.
I, personally, cringe at the idea of feeding one of my own children all the
strange oils, sugars, and otherwise "unmentionables" that are in commercially
prepared formulas-and would probably go for anything that was less fabricated,
but still safe.
So where does the goat industry find their data? It WAS quite specific and
detailed..
Needs more looking into, I'd say, before we denounce completely the safety of
it.
