I see a thread beginning on why we don't have teat vendors at conferences
to demonstrate their wares (nipples in Aus only refers to one thing - the
real thing! - I know, it's all semantics).
Yes it is something we need to know about, but the salesman isn't the best
person to teach us - a speech therapist or knowledgable IBCLC is who should
be doing it in a conference or workshop environment. What we really need
to know are the principles of what you use and when and why, and then we
can apply those principles to whatever teats are around - not just the ones
the salesman has.
The same principle could be applied to formula, afterall I doubt if there
are many of us who have never recommended a mother give her baby some formula.
