Cathy, your post is profoundly stimulating.  I'm sitting here thinking of
the many situations where this aspect of human behavior plays out.

We are close to the areas where breastfeeding is thwarted by cognitive
dissonance and I daily experience such barriers to my clients' desires to
feed their babies.  I'm also looking at where I, too, narrow my mind to
learning and changing.
