Just to illustrate how much we are all influenced to accept or not accept
certain behaviors by what we are exposed to:
We did not have TV while my younger son was growing up, and he had always
been aware of my profession (although he misinterpreted my actual role as
that of someone who went to the hospital to help breastfeed--that is, help
BY breastfeeding--the other babies, but that's another story).
One day when he was around 7 years old, we were in front of a TV, and he saw
a woman in a formula commercial giving her baby formula. In a shocked and
incredulous voice he asked, "Should she be DOING that on TV?"
