Marsha, you have described it very well. Dr. Hale and I talk several years
ago when he called Janssen VP at my urging him to find someway to help the
lactation community and this is exactly what he explained to me about patents and
generics. I have written Tom with a thought I would rather not share on
Lactnet.
Lactnet is a public forum! Formula companies and pharmaceutical companies
are lurking are LISTENING to us. We are at WAR. Why are we running naked in
front our enemies? We need to take our discussions underground into private
chats where we can discuss these matters for problem solving and action in secret.
As, Marsha Glass and others have said there is little (extremely little)
promise that domperidone will ever be legal here. It's not profitable for
corporate American pharmaceutical companies to develop a drug that could boost human
milk supply. Not just because of the formula companies, but the lost in
revenues to ALL pharmaceutical companies who benefit from the illness and drugs
used to treat those illness caused by NOT breastfeeding.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are humanitarians, we care about human life and
quality of human life; big business pharmaceuticals only wants us alive enough to
keep buying lots of their products.
I do believe that our only sliver of a hope would be to join together and
organize a grassroots nationwide coalition for action and problem solving.
Lactnet is not where we need to do it. I am not presently on Lactnet, if you are
interested in working collaboratively toward action or problem solving, please
