Terriann--

I just moved from Jacksonville less than a year ago
and my daughter was born there.

I would highly recommend getting in touch with Monica
Gerhardt, a Jacksonville doula and Bradley teacher who
is one of the most knowledgable people in the birth
community there (and our teacher and doula.) She is
also a great advocate and resource for breastfeeding.
www.bradleybirth.com (look at national directory of
teachers)

As far as midwives, Sharon Schmidt of Fruitful Vine is
regarded as one of the best. I believe she does
exclusively home births (but worth checking if this is
still the case.)

Dr. Kimberly Van Scriver was our doctor. We switched
to her practice at 32 weeks. She is terrific and her
practice has grown to include at least one midwife.
She was knowledgable, caring, and supportive; suffice
to say my daughter was born (uninduced) at 18 days
past EDD.

You can reach me directly for contact numbers if you
can't find them on line.
