HI Teresa,
I am a little behind on my LACTNET reading so just seeing your note.  I would
suggest a cautious approach to the theory of crying as a cue to feed a baby.
It is well established that crying is a late hunger sign and actually a sign
of some kind of distress.
Maybe why babies in their first 3 months cry more may have a combination to
do with trying to tell their parents their needs and parents being more aware
of the babies cues and less trying to use schedules and other people's advise.
I'll be very curious to how your research work goes.  Keep us posted.
