Oversupply can cause blood in bowel movements probably from too much foremilk and the way things "rush" through the baby's intestines. Reading the list of what mom stopped eating, I noticed wheat was left off. That is a major allergen. Around here the doctors all recommend the "non-allergic" formulas rather than changing moms diet or managing the breastfeeding better. I have worked with lots of moms with oversupply or hindmilk/foremilk imbalance and whose babies have digestive issues (reflux, blood in stools, colick, etc.). Honestly, many moms discount this and go to the special formulas but I have had a few women who change their diet to exclude dairy and lower their milk supplies and voila, baby is cured!
