Has anyone else noticed a difference in the "feel" of a chubby
breastfed baby vs a chubby artificially fed one? In my experience,
there is a feel of "substance" to the heavier breastfed baby while
when you hold a heavier formula baby, the fat seems to "flow" around
your hands. Don't know how else to describe it, but I have felt a
difference.

Many years ago I heard that the "fat" breastmilk fed baby has larger
fat cells while the "fat" formula fed baby has more fat cells and
it's the number of fat cells that determines future difficulty in
losing weight-sort of once you have them you can't get rid of them,
only shrink them. Don't know if there is any substance ( no pun
intended) to this or if it's another of those breastfeeding urban
legends.

Winnie
