Hi! A woman contacted me when her baby was six months old. Baby growing and thriving. Mom has had sore nipples for the entire 6 months. She was seen by many other LC's, had most of the routine Sore Nipple treatment...Positioning, Antibacterial(systemic and topical), Antifungal(systemic and topical), APNO, Hydrogel dressings, etc. Baby has a bubble pallet. We tried some positioning and were able to reduce redness and almost heal the open area on the tip of her nipple. But she is not pain free. There are still times when she feels a rubbing sensation. She is commited to nursing as long as possible. She nursed her other child for 2 years. Had no problems with sore nipples. Other child has allergies. She got desparate one day and at the suggestion of her husband, tried formula. Baby broke out in a rash. Allergist said, please continue breastfeeding. No more formula of any kind. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping a mom with a baby with a bubble pallet.
