We are trying to justify some unit specific time for LCs in our NICU.Does anyone work as a unit specific LC. If yes, is it FT or PT? How many hours per day? If no, is this service shared with your MBU? I would certainly appreciate any and all responses. The hospital were I work is a 34 bed NICU and the LCs are just called in for problems. I feel alot of patients fall through the cracks and fail at breast feeding. It is impossible to cover a full 32 bed MBU,busy L&D along with out pts and phone consults! I am one of two full time LCs that is thrying to cover it all!!!Thanks for any response!
