Breastfeeding at work

The Minister for Justice has been called upon to immediately introduce
regulations in the workplace, that will guarantee breastfeeding breaks and the
provision of facilities to working mothers.
Speaking at a meeting of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU),
assistant general secretary, Sally Anne Kinahan, welcomed the recent enactment of the
Maternity Protection (Amendment) Act 2004, which guarantees such breaks and
facilities. However she called on Justice Minister, Michael McDowell, to now
sign the commencement order and introduce the regulations required to ensure
the minimum levels of standards.
