THe pump in style is almost all plastic, to save weight and money. The
classic is largely metal, the entire motor is metal, as is the piston.
You get a better seal and more suction with metal. The hospital grade
pumps with metal pistons have higher peak suction than the plastic versions.
The metal motors are also more durable.
Some mothers do well with the personal electric pumps, but the choice of
pump truly does make a difference for others. Those of us in private
practice seeing mothers with supply issues clearly see this.
