I must comment on the criticism heaped upon LACTNET in the last post - -
I too am extremely busy - I hold a full time job - I commute 2hours per day to
get to it. I have two children, two dogs, a cat, and a husband (notice the
order :-) ) who also require a lot of my time - - and I am a graduate student -
I sometimes have no time to read all the digests or the other email I receive
from the warwick Midwife list - but
when I do
I find the content well worth the effort - I have learned so much from this
forum - I have been encouraged, enlightened, and entertained. Yes, there are
some strong feelings shared within the dialogue - It is important for us to
expose ourselves to many different beliefs and values - this is how we grow and
learn tolerance. The participants of LACTNET are by their very membership to
this group - dedicated to breastfeeding - so it shouldn't surprise anyone that
we value longevity of breastfeeding as well. But - to those who have been on
this forum for awhile - it is also apparent we are very caring professionals,
who primarily wish to support and nurture new parents and our colleagues
whatever their situations.
I am sure if the disgruntled new member to the list were to spend some more time
reading the digests - it would become apparent that this is a VALUABLE and RICH
resource for breastfeeding information and advocacy.
Just my two cents worth ----- thanks, Kim
