Hi all, my name is Margaret Wendt. I am a midwife in a hospital in
Queensland Australia. I have been a midwife for ten years, with a specific
interest in postnatal/early discharge care and breastfeeding. I also have
a Bachelor of Health Science(Nursing) and a Graduate Certificate in
Community Child and Adolescent Health. I have two daughters Emily 7 years
and Laura 3 years, both of whom I breastfed for 18 months each. I work at
Logan Hospital as a breastfeeding educator. I provide postnatal
breastfeeding classes daily on weekdays, and antenatal classes once a
fortnight. I also offer one-on-one counselling for both inpatients and
outpatients. It is a fantastic service ( and I am that very lucky creature
a nurse who isn't shiftworking!).

As I have finally completed other studies, and the girls are getting a
little bigger, I have been working towards sitting the IBCLCE in July this
year. I have accessed your archives in the past for information, but am
finally feeling confident enough in my skills and knowledge to join your
community. I am looking forward to being able to share the great body of
knowledge out there with my mums.

On the personal side, I am married to Keith who is extremely supportive,
and just rolls his eyes when I say 'I'm thinking of studying something
else'. We are avid travellers, and are frequently to be found in our
Landcruiser 4wd travelling the outback, me usually with a textbook on my
knee!! Margaret
