I'm off to my BF books to look further into this, but am wondering if
anyone has ever found a reason or cure for breasts that itch. I searched
the archives and found many asking the question but did not find a real
answer.

My client called to say that she has been having intense itching on/in her
breasts. Like when you are pregnant and your stomach itches and itches.
Her baby is just 3 weeks and two days old. Her nipples and areola are not
really itching it is just the breast. She is already back to nursing
school and said she has had to leave her classes a couple of times to go
to the restroom to scratch.

It is sometimes more intense after pumping but between pumpings it starts
up too, hence, the leaving class.

Kathy Rasmussen mentioned perhaps it had something to do with oxytocin.

The mom wonders if it might have to do with the larger breast growth now
that she has a good supply.

We talked about diet, detergents, soaps, thrush/yeast, and have narrowed
an item down to the Evenflo disposable nipple pads that she started using
just before this started happening. But if it is a physical reaction to
milk letdown or hormones what can we do. Heat, Benadryl, hydrocortisone?

Any ideas? Thank you,

Cheryl
