I wonder if the mothers got to have their babies with them immediately
after delivery. This was shown to reduce the incidence of PPD in at least one
Australian study. (Rowe-Murray and Fisher Br J Ob Gyn 2001; 108: 1068-1075.
And, Astbury, Brown Lumley and Small Aust J Pub Health 1994; 18:176-184)
If the mothers got to hold their babies right after birth, their risk of
PPD would go down, no matter how interventive the delivery.
