Isn't it sad how square and narrow minded some people can be? I had a
similar situation at the hospital I worked at in Illinois (smaller community
hospital, not the "big city") when I posted the Ameda picture of a little girl
nursing her doll. One of the nurses who I hardly knew said it looked like child
pornography (really!) and asked that I take it down. The positive comments
outnumbered the negative more than 10 to 1 and the manager was supportive. But I
decided to dialogue with her and I did take it down. She may never get it but
I didn't want to make an enemy on the night shift. Unfortunately it comes
down to an "us vs. them" and breastfeeding support can be damaged. I'm not
saying roll over and give in but at least try to discuss it or post some
explanation.
Hope this helps,
Mary Kay Smith, RN, IBCLC

p.s. the ice cream sundae poster is my favorite. I remember a boy in high
school who wore a t-shirt with a picture of two fried eggs on it and no one
complained! Maybe because it was the swingin' 70's?
