""Goats milk sould not be used as a supplement for
breastfeeding. It is high in sodium and very high in chloride and potassium,
which makes the renal solute load too high for babies. This can cause gastro
intestional bleeding and can result in anemia and poor growth. Also goats
milk is low in folic acid.''
Right. The ash content of goat's milk is similar to that of cow's milk (much higher than human milk). For use as a replacement for other infant formulas, it HAS to be watered down considerably (basically to the same extent as the old formula recipes based on cow's milk) and folic acid supplementation is needed.
