Hello fellow Lactnetters!
I have permission to post to request additional recommendations.
This mother is Gravida 6 Para 6, 41 years old, no history of fertility
issues or other health complications.
Baby #6 is 3 months old. At one month he had signs of foremilk imbalance
(green, watery, frothy, explosive stools; fussiness; gassy; spit up a lot,
etc). Weight gain was adequate. Lathces well, no signs of Overactive MER.
Mom worked to bring supply into balance with breastfeeding only on one side
for 6 hours, then switching to the other breast for the next 6 hours. This
worked well and within 5-7 days.
Now, 2 months later, baby is back to alternating breasts with feedings. The
family is experiencing the stresses of building a house and moving.
Symptoms are back in the baby. Weight gain is off the charts (most likely
due to so much lactose). No aigns of overactive MER. Again, I recommended
to balance the supply as the mom did before.
The BFAB recommends Sage tea per Sheila Humphrey's recommendations and/or a
course of oral contraceptives for 4-7 days.
Does anyone have other recommendations for recurrent oversupply?
Your comments are welcome privately or posted.
Thanks in advance.
