Here is the letter I wrote quickly to ABC. Anyone else catch that
"bottle" comment?

I so love NYPD Blues. I am usually so happy with how progressive the
show is, but I was very disappointed tonight. Why oh why did Sipowicz
have to say that Theo could "make bottles" for the new baby? Wouldn't
Sipowicz want his new child to have the very best, and wouldn't Connie
want to breastfeed this baby, a baby she thought she would never have?
The show that was first to show nudity on primetime should also be the
show to portray breastfeeding as a normal and natural function,
perfectly compatible with a busy life of two cops with three kids!
I know this was the season finale (NYPD Blues needs a LONGER season!) so
please, next year, please have Connie breastfeed that baby (current
recommendations on length of breastfeeding is two years (World Health
Organization)), show her washing out her pump, and being walked in on
while pumping (in the breakroom please, NOT the bathroom!)! There could
be LOTS of good humor regarding breastfeeding, and some serious
situations (what does a cop/breastfeeding mommy do when she's working a
homicide and she starts leaking?).
There are plenty of folks out there (including me) who would be glad to
help the writers get "breastfeeding" right!
Thanks for listening
Joylyn Fowler
