I think most people would agree that parents need to be responsible.
Certainly, parents should look out for the safety and welfare of their children.
Parenting means that limits and boundaries have to made in order to protect
children.

But, the problem is that assumptions are being made about what parents know
in this society. Do parents know that infant formula carries risks? No, what
they believe to be true is that infant formula is safe in our modern day
world. They believe that science has liberated women from the burden of birth and
breastfeeding. Liberation from biology comes with a price. Certainly, most
people are not informed of the price to this liberation.

What is this ignorance based on? I am not sure how one can believe that this
ignorance is based on parents deliberately making poor choices. This
ignorance stems from the years of propaganda leveled upon people through the media by
industry's who profit from the selling of infant formula. It stems from a
government that has a financial interest in certain industries that benefit from
the use of artificial baby milks. It stems from breastfeeding advocates not
willing to discuss risks of infant formula.

Litigation will happen because this issue is not about parent's rejecting
their responsibility. It's about hiding the truth. This is not about frivalous
lawsuits. It's about holding corporations and government accountable for the
health and well-being of its citizens.
