Subject: Baby Friendly Hospital in New Jersey?
"Anyone know offhand if there is a WHO Baby Friendly certified hospital
in New Jersey? Or more specifically w/in an hours drive from Morristown
NJ?
Any help would be tremendously appreciated by a mom who will likely have
a c/sec for a footling breech.....

Dear Katherine,
I work as a doula, childbirth mentor & postpartum doula here in Northern
NJ. In my experience I have not encountered any, nor are any listed at
http://www.babyfriendlyusa.org/
There is one in Reading, PA, but that is about 2 hours from Morristown.
Best bet would be to check Hackettstown Hospital. There are several
Midwifery practices there that she could go to, and use the surgeon for
the birth. Her postpartum care would probably be much better with the
midwives.
Also - The Childbirth Center in Englewood catches their babies at
Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, NJ and have made great inroads with
24/7 rooming-in, etc. Their back up doc is very nice and the midwives
come into the OR, as can a doula (I have done this).
Please tell your friend to feel free to call me if she needs any
information or assistance.
