Hi Kathy,
I recommend washing with mild soap and warm water. I recommend just using
one's fingers gently to do it. I recommend this to be done for any real
wound that is open. It does not necessarily need to be done for a small
'blister' or 'blood blister' which is not open. It could be done for a mild
abrasion and definitely for a crack or tear.

By the way, I do not advocate the usual advice of 'no soap on nipples.' I
don't see the problem with getting soap on nipples or doing a gentle wash as
one would do when not lactating. I just don't recommend moms scrub their
nipples.
