Hi,
I do not post often, but I have a question. I have a patient that has a
baby with PVL (Periventricular leukomalacia). I know that very often these
babies are classified as CP. The mom has had some questions. A coworker of
mine has searched the Lactnet archives and could not come up with any
thing. I also searched the net and came up with some information. One of
the questions mom has is the baby seems to be sleeping alot and she has to
wake her up for feedings. Mom has been very deligent and setting an alarm
clock day and night to make sure the baby is getting fed enough. Does any
one know if this sleeping is associated with PVL? Mom was telling me that
the baby does not always suck effectivly. We are not sure if this is
because of PVL or newborn activity? Baby was born full term. If anyone has
any information on this can you e-mail me privatly or post to the list. It
can be a learning experience for all.
Thanks
Regina Camillieri IBCLC
