Why do we even ask "THE" question? We don't ask a mother whether she wants
to deliver the placenta.
A mother really has no choice whether or not to lactate after giving birth,
because her body will make milk regardless of what her brain decides. Her
only real choice is to throw the milk away or give it to her baby.
I've been known to chant this mantra during my lectures:
1. The baby comes out.
2. The placenta comes out.
3. The milk comes in.
4. The sun rises in the east.
Ooh, was that too cynical and blunt?
