Our NICU is in the process of writing funding proposals for new freezers
for the storage of EBM. Is anyone aware of any information in the
literature that discusses the size of the NICU (# of beds) in relation to
the recommended size of freezers for storage of EBM. Currently, we have 3
small freezers which are constantly full and crammed with storage
containers of EBM. Larger freezers would increase our storage capacity and
reduce the time the freezer is open to find EBM.

I have searched the Human Milk Bank Association Web Site and re-read
Recommendations of Collection and Storage and Handling of a Mother's Milk
for her own Infant in the Hospital Setting. I would appreciate any help.

Thank you,
Barbara Dudley BSN IBCLC
