Judy asks,
<<Is this advice not to respond to a baby always from a male and/or
doctor
author? I myself have not seen this advice from a female. My guess is
that
it is a control issue on the part of these docs.>>
I have indeed seen it from a woman. We had a couple who are both ob's
but it is obvious the woman wears the pants in the relationship. They
were recommending this cry-it-out strategy a la Ezzo to their patients.
Since I found out and sent them Dr. Aney's info, I have not heard of any
more patients saying this was recommended to them. However, the woman
was very self-righteous in saying that this advice saved their sanity
and even their breastfeeding relationship! She very clearly likes to be
in charge and I think this was also true in parenting for her. As was
said, I think these docs have children at a time when they have to make
compromises in their parenting in order to accommodate their career.
