Lisa and all
Your letter brings tears to my eyes. As Rachel already mentioned, most
mothers don't take the time to write these thought/feelings. What a gift!
I am being occationally battered about by a nurse in my facility that tells
me that I say certain things (that I don't say) and "make mothers feel
guilty". I can't tell you how many times I've refined and refined and
constantly refined my verbage to make sure it is positive, supportive,
encouraging and non-guilt producing. It is a stereo-type that we (as a
group) are boob-nazi's. Sometimes the going is really rough. So I do take
this letter personally, it's supportive of all of us who do a loving,
compassionate job, one that not everyone can do.
I had an L.C. angel in my life, I think of her often, also and also
have not let her know how much I remember her encouraging, helpful words and
work. I guess I better start writing!
