Sadly, strawberries in this country (US) --particularly those grown in
California and Florida--always show up on the top of the list of fruits &
vegetables that should be limited because of the huge amounts of pesticides
& fungicides that are ingested along with the berries.
Both the EWA & the EPA have information on this on their websites, if you're
want to know more. EWA.org has a "wallet card" that you can download that
lists the dozen most contaminated and the dozen least contaminated ones...
Obviously, organic strawberries -or those from your own garden- are a
different story, but in light of the evidence of how much of those chemicals
end up in our breastmilk, maybe mothers should not eat huge amounts of
commercially-grown strawberries for diuresis.
(and I love strawberries!)
