Has anyone heard of fenugreek being connected to early miscarriage? A
mother of a 9 month old child took it for about 2 weeks for her low milk
supply (was just getting over the flu) - noticed an increase in her milk
supply, stopped taking it, and shortly afterward had a miscarriage. In
searching for an answer to the "why" of the miscarriage located web
sites on the "harmful" effects of fenugreek and one stated not to take
while breastfeeding or pregnant. I have used Dr. Hale's book, Ruth
Lawrence, LLL BFAB, and Huggin's and did not see a reference to
miscarriage. I know Dr. Hale's book says it can have a stimulant effect
on the uterus and its use in late pregnancy may not be advisable. No
one knew this mother was in an early pregnancy and she is in great
anguish believing that something she took caused her loss. Should we
have very LARGE flags on all our information about using fenugreek if
there is a slight possibility of pregnancy? Any additional information
would be appreciated.
