Hi, Nikki.
I have worked with several mothers of babies with Down Syndrome. As
you know, these babies' ability levels can vary considerably. Using my method
of bottle-feeding, sometimes with a medium flow nipple and then switching to a
slow-flow nipple as baby was able to complete medium-flow feedings too
quickly, has helped these babies eventually completely breastfeed. "Eventually" is
the key word. They have worked their way from bottle-feeds to mixed
breast/bottle-feeds to complete breastfeeding anywhere from 3 months of age to 6 months
of age, depending on the baby.
