Actually Theresa, I think the pattern of infant crying is not related to
issues of supply. There is a lot of evidence that it is tied to brain
development. If you overlap the incidence of SIDS with the incidence of
crying initiation the overlap is dramatic. There is great work out there.
Look for things from Ron Barr, and Meredith Small.
Regarding the hormonal change. There are some great write ups out there. I
think Peter Hartmann's website might have one, discussing the change from
endocrine to autocrine control. Not so much a change in kind of hormones as
a change from hormonal control. I think there was a JHL article by one of
Peter's affiliates published in the mid 90s. I am no expert, perhaps
someone who is could give us a synopsis?
