baby has a poor suck and is not effectively removing milk.  If we are working
on the supply = demand principle (autocrine, rather than endocrine control),
then it seems to me that the more milk that is removed, the more that is made.
With an effectively sucking baby, they are going to remove most of the milk

I generally recommend the same thing based on the theory that it is the efficacy of milk removal that drives production.  I also recommend shorter, more frequent pumpings as opposed to longer, less frequent ones. (though I do recommend pumping 2 minutes past the cessation of flow per Paula Meier).  I have mothers who want to pump for 20-30 minutes every 4 hours instead of 10-15 every 2-3 and call it even.
