A couple of private e-mails prompt me to repeat this.
The approx. 99% initiation rate for breastfeeding in Norway has remained the
same for the past one hundred and forty years.  The '140' was most definitely
not a typo.  It is only continuation rates that have fluctuated significantly
during that time.
I guess I am willing to sacrifice a lot to defend this statistic; not the
correctness of it, but its magnificence.  I don't want the 21st century to be
the one where Norwegian BF initiation rates decline for the first time since
records started being kept.
