Just a thought....

ooh, heather, we are like ike and mike! we think alike! (could it be b/c we
are both from star-dazzled so cal?) i'm at the 'if you want something done
right, do it yourself' point w/ this whole issue. i think we need to come up w/
an aggressive and 'outside the box' way to get the message out there. i just
don't think we can wait for the usual methods to pay off w/ gmo's being added
and these novel brain enhancing ingredients, etc... i hear everywhere i turn
about the alarmingly skyrocketing rates of disease and impairments in our
children and then flash to what's happening to their nourishment! and i think 'ugh,
it has to happen NOW, before we irretrievably damage gernations of children'.
i had a mom yesterday that sent me soaring to the sky and then plummeting to
the earth. she mentioned formula. she said her 8 yo had been ff'ed and now
today what she has learned with her new baby has made her so ANGRY at the ffing
industry. i grew hopeful, waiting to hear about the awakening of this new
bfing convert. she went on to tell me how was she supposed to feel that her 1st
son never got the dha/ara formula but now her new one can?
of course i went over what's in breastmilk and relactating... but it's too
late for her. she was hooked on getting the latest and greatest that modern
technology could offer for her newborn. she was convinced the more she could pay
for it, the more flashy ingredients she could find, the more she was doing for
her child. she was like a woman who had to drive a yugo all her life and
suddenly got approved to buy a lexus. even tho it cost her a lot more and she has
to pay for it, she was going to do so w/ a vengeance b/c by jove she had been
denied before! and i was like the person coming along and saying, 'but wait,
riding a bike would be healthier for you, your baby and the environment!'
that's how she saw it anyway.
you know the billboards all over hollywood w/ that busty blonde on them?
she's not an actress/model or performer...she just has a lot of money and wanted
to see billboards of herself b/c she thinks she epitomizes the calif look? i
forget her name now that i never see them (here in mi, we still have the cig ads
everywhere :-(
it was angelina/angelique...something like that? well, it just keeps
spinning around in my head, if she can do it, why can't we? just make commercials
and ads that lay it right on the line! but i guess i'm dreaming b/c the ppl and
organizations that could afford to do that have the professional affiliations
and considerations to consider, as has been pointed out here many a time. ppl
lose their jobs irl for their dedication to what is right! it makes me ill.
makes me want to stay a lowly bfing volunteer forever. at least i got to say to
this mom: "comfort proteins? do you mean the cow's milk particles soaked in
the enzymes from a pig's gut? your human milk is already tailor made to be 100%
comfortable for your baby" . can i still say these things when i become an LC
and rely on referrals from dr.s and nurses who may be beholden to formula
companies? somebody in the formula industry just better hope i never win the
lottery, that's all i have to say on the matter.
~jacqui gruttadauria, whose 3.75 yo asked her, 'mumma why you haf mad mad
eyes?' when i read the news that the campaign is really going to be modified.
