Hello,

I am a LLL leader and currently am nursing my 3rd child who is 6.5 months old. She has been prescribed
amoxicillin for an ear infection and has taken it for 7 days. I am allergic to amoxicillin so when I give her
the medication I am careful to wash my hands. However, I must have been exposed to it via nursing b/c I
woke up with hives. Has anyone ever heard of this? What advice is there in this situation? Should nursing
mothers avoid giving their nurslings drugs that they themselves cannot take?

Thanks,

Andrea Herdelin
LLL Leader from Haddonfield, NJ Group
