If the message would still be effective without being so direct, then
it would have been designed that way in the first place. ... IMO, if
the AIM companies are mad, then we have hit paydirt and we need to move
forward with no modifications (selling out) of any kind.

Well said Jennifer. So what do we do to get DHHS to stand by the
original advertising campaign?  The letter writing campaign didn't seem
to work.
