Joylyn,

I have been a brownie leader for 7 years and breastfeeding for 11 years
next month. I live in South Carolina, not California, and do not have time
to read the CA law, so I may not fully understand the situation. I have
read several replies stating that anywhere the child and mother can be
together, the child can breastfeed. I would personally attend with my 19mo
(his current age) and breastfeed him if needed and deal with it then. The
reason I would not point out the nursing thing in advance is that they are
making an exception to allow the child to attend and could just as easily
withdraw the exception if they don't like your terms. Therefore, the child
would no longer be allowed to be there. Personally, I think that
breastfeeding should be more encouraged by Girl Scouts, but also that they
should have more tolerance for younger siblings as MOST mothers will at
some time have a child younger than their first. I think they are
discriminatory toward those of us with more than the accepted 2 children.
