Study re. pacifier use:
Victoria, Cesar G., et al "Use of Pacifiers & BF Duration", Lancet, 1993:
341:404-406 (See write up in one of last year's BF Abstracts)
It really is unhygenic for moms to clean those plugs with their saliva. Could
result in candida transfer,
for one. But anti-bodies against caries can also be transferred to baby by
kissing (maybe pacifier too?)
before its teeth come in.
Everybody's welcome to steal my idea for a BF art exhibit. Be prepared for work!
Another woman is doing a similiar project in the mid-west, displaying the show
in nursing schools etc. If we are fortunate to have proceeds they will go to
support BFHI.
