Since the "dramatic, permanent changes in behavior and in the brain" was seen in lactating mice, I can't help but wonder if the same beneficial outcomes in maternal behavior would be observed in mouse mothers who bottle fed.

Surely, the hormones of normal, i.e., long-term, lactation plays a role in the behavior changes as well.

I clicked on to the WebMD site to read the whole article.  Interesting to see advertisements right in the middle of the article for a particular brand of AIM along with a link to sign up to receive lots of  their "healthy baby" corporate info.
