Carol,
Did you do pre-post weights on this baby? Often older babies can bf in
3-5 minutes, and still get enough milk. If this mom's supply has truly
dropped, she can try bf very very often. If the baby resists the sns,
perhaps the flow at breast is really good for her, or perhaps there are
other issues that make it difficult for her to handle the faster flow
(laryngomalacia, tongue tie) and that caused slightly inefficient
feeding and led to a gradual reduction in milk supply.
Also, cereal is not the only food appropriate at 6 mos. This baby can
have tidbits of meats, fruits and veggies from the table, after
breastfeeding.
