Sales reps for pump companies can certainly behave like formula company
reps, trying to use their tactics to advance sales. I don't think the
reputable pumps companies promote that, however. They use solid
information and research to back up their sales pitch. And they have
one other selling feature: pumps that work. The reputable companies
are constantly engaging in research and development as new information
becomes available. The pumps found in many baby stores that are
inexpensive are the same ineffective pumps that were on the shelves 20
years ago, it seems to me. Thanks to Lactnet, we have a forum for
discussion and exchange of information so we can find out what works and
what is ineffective or deleterious. A sales rep for a good product will
not have to use underhanded tactics to sell the product. Good products
speak for themselves and stand up to scrutiny. Formula company reps
cover the shortcomings of their products by twisting information.
