Dear Friends:
    Barbara Katz Rothman wrote an article "Breastfeeding: Beyond Milk" that
is in the June issue of MIDIRS (one of my favorite journals). She talks about
how human milk has become a product. The relationship between mother and baby
is no longer the focus, the word suckling (a relationship word) has been lost,
and the focus now is on breastfeeding as a way to provide milk. We have been
conditioned, by images of milk being poured into glasses and purchased in
containers, to stress the importance of breastmilk feeding, rather than suckling.
    Very interesting article.
