Dear Pam,
I've had a lot of experience with the Dr. Brown bottle. I work with a
Speech Pathologist who is quite good with breastfed babies and oral motor
issues. She uses it often and I have recommended it for when a bottle must
be used. There is the wide mouth and the narrow mouth type, and it does
seem to reduce the air to baby. I agree with you though that often the
reflux issue is missed in favor of colic. This bottle does not replace what
the Haberman does, but it's only $6 so it's something they can try. I make
certain they understand the difference between bottles and breast so they
don't see it as a breast replacement.
I encourage mothers to watch for snoring, silent reflux signs (I describe),
hoarse cry, etc. Good luck.
