Thanks Rachel for pointing out that we got so caught up in our
"foumula is bad and here's proof" discussion that we did not express
what I'm sure we all felt about the unfortunate victims of this
tragedy. We are at least in part as guilty of a knee-jerk response
as those who have made imappropriate comments/accusations about the
situation.
Yes, the babies are tragic victims and so are the moms who had been
led to believe there was no significant difference in how their
babies were being fed. Please, any of you who have contact with any
moms/families who are victims of this, let them know that LCs around
the world offer their heartfelt sympathy for this tragedy.
"The Israel Lactation Consultant Association has decided to hold an
open-house clinical day on Wednesday, with free
support to breastfeeding mothers. The counsellors are available
around the country. Call 09-8858256, 02-5325383
and 08-9731719 for more information."
What a marvelous response! Let's hope that some moms who may have
been using formula might also consider taking advantage of this to
learn about the possibility of relactation.
Winnie
