I work in Private practice in Chicago and volunteer for LLLI as well. As the
topic of Reflux is brought up, I am wondering about the huge rise in reflux
babies. I have been seeing about 3 - 5 babies a week who indeed appear to
be suffering from reflux. These babies are in the 3 -5 week old range and
are screaming in pain at the breast. Some respond to management techniques
and others need meds to feel better. These are not babies who are *fussy* or
diagnosed reflux due to a little spitting. Some of them don't spit at all.
Has anyone else seem a drastic rise in this and any ideas why? I am
certainly seeing a connection to oversupply but any other ideas?
Thanks and Peace,
